Flydubai Launches New Flights to Islamabad and Lahore from Dubai International
Flydubai made a significant announcement on June 24, unveiling plans to launch new flight routes from Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 2 to Islamabad and Lahore in Pakistan, beginning July 1, 2024. This move is aimed at addressing the needs of the large Pakistani community, estimated at 1.7 million people, who reside and work in the UAE.
According to Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at flydubai, Pakistan has always been a crucial market for the airline. Since its inaugural flights to Karachi in 2010, flydubai has witnessed consistent demand for air travel services to and from Pakistan. With the introduction of daily services to Islamabad and Lahore, flydubai aims to provide passengers with expanded opportunities to explore Dubai, as well as other destinations across the GCC region and beyond, leveraging its extensive network.
Flydubai’s history in Pakistan dates back over a decade, starting with operations to Karachi and expanding subsequently to include cities like Faisalabad, Multan, Quetta, and Sialkot, alongside its latest additions of Islamabad and Lahore.
Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for UAE, GCC, Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent at flydubai, emphasized that the new daily services to Islamabad and Lahore are designed to enhance convenience and reliability for travelers from both the UAE and Pakistan. These flights will be operated using flydubai’s modern fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, promising passengers an upgraded travel experience with enhanced onboard amenities and comfort.
In terms of fares, flydubai has announced competitive pricing. Business Class return fares from Dubai to Islamabad start at Dh5,500, while Economy Class fares begin at Dh1,300. For travelers flying from Islamabad to Dubai, Business Class fares start at Rs400,000, and Economy Class at Rs120,000. Similarly, Business Class return fares from Dubai to Lahore are priced from Dh5,500, with Economy Class fares starting at Dh1,200. For Lahore to Dubai flights, Business Class fares begin at Rs400,000, and Economy Class at Rs120,000.
The introduction of these new routes signifies flydubai’s strategic efforts to expand its network and strengthen air connectivity between the UAE and Pakistan. This initiative is expected to cater not only to business travelers but also to tourists and individuals visiting friends and family, thereby contributing to increased bilateral exchanges and economic ties between the two countries.
