UAE, Oman Review Progress in US-Iran Dialogue, Stress Regional Stability
In a phone conversation held on Saturday, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi to discuss the latest developments in the ongoing indirect US-Iran negotiations hosted by Oman.
Sheikh Abdullah praised Oman’s efforts to improve communication, restore trust, and defuse tensions between Washington and Tehran. He also praised the country’s continued role as a diplomatic bridge-building country in the region. He expressed confidence that Oman’s mediation would help restore trust and make a significant contribution to regional and international peace and security.
The discussions, which were held in Muscat, were described as “friendly and constructive” by Omani Foreign Minister Busaidi, who emphasized Oman’s dedication to promoting peaceful resolutions through tactful diplomacy.
According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, the two-and-a-half-hour discussions between Iranian representative Seyed Abbas Araghchi and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff focused on nuclear issues and sanctions relief—key points of contention that have impacted broader geopolitical dynamics.
The UAE-Oman discussion highlights the growing diplomatic coordination in the Gulf aimed at promoting dialogue over confrontation, particularly at a time when regional actors are increasingly investing in stability, economic development, and cooperative security frameworks.
