UAE Participates in G20 Sherpa Meeting in Brazil Ahead of Leaders’ Summit

The United Arab Emirates participated in the fourth G20 Sherpa meeting in Rio de Janeiro, focusing on the draft report of the G20 Leaders’ Summit. Key topics include global economic and political issues, social inclusion, energy transition and governance reforms. The UAE’s involvement marks its fifth invitation to the G20 discussions.

In Rio de Janeiro, a UAE delegation led by UAE Ambassador to Brazil Saleh Al Suwadi and UAE Sous Sherpa for the G20 participated in the fourth G20 Sherpa Meeting held from November 12 to 17, 2024.

The talks aim to negotiate the content of the G20 Leaders’ Summit Declaration ahead of the summit in Brazil on November 18 and 19, 2024.

The draft declaration discussed by the G20 Sherpas touches on several significant global issues. These include contemporary world political and economic trends, social inclusion initiatives, the fight against poverty and hunger, the energy transition, sustainable development, and changes in global governance structures. .

The UAE attended the G20 summit for the sixth time this year after being invited as a guest. Among other host nations, the country has previously participated in G20 summits in France (2011), Saudi Arabia (2020), Indonesia (2022), and India (2023).
