UAE, Israel Agree to Send Urgent Humanitarian Aid to Gaza
UAE boosts humanitarian efforts with Israel deal to aid Gaza civilians

UAE and Israel Agree on Urgent Humanitarian Aid Delivery to Gaza Amid Crisis
Israel and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to supply humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip immediately, according to a statement released on Emirati state media on Wednesday. This collaborative move comes as international pressure mounts on Israel to ease its military operations in Gaza and open humanitarian access to the besieged territory, where food, medical supplies, and essential services remain critically scarce.
The deal was secured following a phone conversation between UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar. According to the UAE’s official news agency WAM, under the arrangement, around 15,000 citizens will initially receive food aid, along with supplies to maintain bakery operations and address childcare needs. The aid is being arranged to support the ongoing humanitarian needs of Gaza’s citizens by ensuring continuity of supply.
The United Nations has seen significant delays in food deliveries due to operational restrictions, despite Israel reporting that 93 aid trucks entered Gaza on Tuesday. Amid these challenges, the UAE-Israel agreement seeks to speed up and simplify the aid process.
While it is not yet clear exactly when the Emirati supplies will be delivered and distributed, the agreement is seen as a major step towards alleviating the humanitarian crisis in the Strip. According to reports, the two countries discussed joint efforts to achieve a possible ceasefire after the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, re-establish a humanitarian ceasefire, and release the hostages held.
The Abraham Accords, brokered by the United States in 2020, cemented the two countries’ broad diplomatic ties, which are reflected in this effort. The UAE continues to assist humanitarian efforts in Gaza, sending medical personnel and transferring injured residents to the Emirates for treatment.
The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry said that more than 53,000 people have been killed since the war began, indicating a sharp deterioration in the situation in Gaza. More than 1,200 people, mostly civilians, were killed in a deadly Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023, which triggered the start of the conflict.
The UAE’s most recent relief effort reaffirms its commitment to using integrated humanitarian diplomacy to reduce civilian suffering and promote regional peace when war intensifies.
