ICGS Shoor Strengthens India-UAE Maritime Ties at NAVDEX & IDEX 2025

Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Shoor has arrived in Abu Dhabi for a week-long participation in two leading defence exhibitions – the Naval Defence Exhibition and Conference (NAVDEX 2025) and the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX 2025). The Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) docked in Abu Dhabi on February 15 and will remain in Abu Dhabi till February 21, a powerful manifestation of the growing maritime partnership between India and the UAE.

India’s SAGAR Vision and Enhancing Maritime Security
The arrival of ICGS Shoor is in line with India’s SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) initiative, which supports economic growth, maritime security and safety in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). India’s dedication to regional security and strategic collaboration with the UAE’s naval forces is demonstrated by the vessel’s presence.

In order to stress the importance of the visit, Commanding Officer DIG Dushyant Kumar showed UAE Navy personnel effective demonstrations of the ship’s remotely operated life buoy technology. Both countries can share knowledge and improve operational plans for improved marine security through these technical exchanges.

Strengthening Bilateral Maritime Cooperation
Indian Coast Guard representatives are holding high-level talks with UAE maritime agencies during the tour, with a focus on important topics like:

  The increasing defense cooperation between India and the UAE is reflected in the arrival of ICGS Shoor at NAVDEX and IDEX 2025. Since Shoor is a cutting-edge Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) constructed by Goa Shipyard Limited, it demonstrates India’s in-house shipbuilding capabilities.
