UAE: Demise of president’s brother Sheikh Saeed; Mourning for 3 days

Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, brother of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, passed away today. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the head of the emirate, has expressed his condolences on the death of Sheikh Saeed, who had been suffering from ill health for the past few days.

Tributes have been pouring in for Sheikh Saeed, who passed away due to ill health, and it has been announced that three days of mourning will be observed across the country. Accordingly, the President’s Court has issued an official notice to keep the flags at half-mast for three days from July 27 (Thursday) to July 29 (Saturday).

It is noted that the President’s Court had already issued a statement on July 22 that Sheikh Saeed was suffering from ill health and we pray to Almighty God for his speedy recovery.

Born in 1965 in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Saeed assumed the role of Representative of the Ruler of Abu Dhabi in 2010. He was also appointed as Deputy Secretary of the Department of Planning in Abu Dhabi. Meanwhile, he also acted as representative of His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

It is also worth noting that the late Sheikh Saeed, a former member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Committee (ADCED), also served as the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Maritime Port Authority.
