UAE Refuses IPL 2025 Hosting Request Due to Prior Commitment with PCB
The UAE has refused to host the remaining matches of IPL 2025 due to its current commitment with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approached the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) to request the Dubai stadium for the remaining matches of IPL 2025, sources said. However, the ECB informed the BCCI that the Dubai venue had already been reserved by the PCB for the remaining Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 matches.
This decision followed the official confirmation from the PCB, made on the night of May 8, that the Dubai venue would host the concluding matches of PSL 10, including the playoffs and final. The The future of the IPL is uncertain for now as the UAE has rejected the idea of hosting the tournament, as PSL matches are already scheduled.
While the Indian board had wanted to hold the IPL 2025 in the UAE, the clash with PSL 10 has forced the BCCI to consider other options. According to reports, the IPL could now be held in September, but this date could clash with the 2025 Asia Cup, which could pose logistical problems for both the tournaments.
Meanwhile, the PCB has confirmed that the remaining PSL 10 matches, including the playoffs, will be shifted to the UAE due to security concerns in the region. The PCB will provide more information on the dates and venues soon.
Relatedly, the 27th PSL 10 match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings was postponed at the last minute due to security concerns, prioritizing the health of all. The initial plan was to play the match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
There are only a few league-stage matches and play-off matches left in PSL 10, and cricket fans are looking forward to a thrilling conclusion.
