UAE Pledges Additional $200 Million in Aid for Sudan

The United Arab Emirates has committed a further $200 million (AED734 million) in aid for Sudan, increasing the total amount to $3.5 billion. A High-Level Humanitarian Conference for the Sudanese People in Addis Ababa was the venue for the announcement.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this year’s first high-level humanitarian conference for Sudan will pave the way for future efforts to support the Sudanese people.

“The UAE’s commitment to humanitarian values is evident in this additional aid, reinforcing solidarity as Sudan’s crisis worsens.”

“The UAE demands that a humanitarian ceasefire be observed throughout the holy month of Ramadan, a time of compassion and mercy, in order to lessen the severe suffering endured by the Sudanese people. This is a duty under international humanitarian law, not just a humanitarian request.
