A local charity in Ajman has launched a Dh3 million initiative aimed at redressing the status of overstayers and completing the process of issuing their residency visas.

As part of a broader initiative to waive fines for offenders, Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Protection (ICP) partnered with the International Charity Organization (ICO) to launch ‘Redressing the Status of offenders’.
Entry and Residence Regulations.

The two-month visa amnesty program, which began on September 1 and runs through October 30, will allow violators to regularize their status or leave the country without sanctions, fines or exit fees.

(ICO) Secretary General Dr. Khalid Al Khaja explained that the ICO’s approach includes supporting national campaigns, including this one, that exempt individuals from residency penalties and offer them the opportunity to amend their status.

In the initial phase of the initiative, the ICO will process 600 applications from people who meet the necessary criteria, he added.
