Trump Plans Middle East Visit Amid Strengthening US-Saudi Ties

Washington: Former US President Donald Trump revealed plans to visit Saudi Arabia as early as next month, marking what could be his first overseas trip since returning to the political spotlight. Speaking to reporters at the White House on Monday, he mentioned that his itinerary would also include stops in Qatar and the UAE, highlighting their strategic importance.

Saudi Arabia has pledged nearly $1 trillion in investments in American companies, a move Trump emphasized as a significant boost for US jobs and economic growth. Additionally, he reiterated that US firms would be supplying critical equipment to Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern nations, reinforcing economic and defense ties.

Earlier this year, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman committed $600 billion toward US trade and investments, although details on funding sources and utilization remain unclear.

Trump, who made Saudi Arabia his first presidential visit in 2017, has maintained strong relations with Riyadh. He is expected to continue efforts toward Middle East diplomacy, particularly encouraging Saudi Arabia to normalize ties with Israel. Reaffirming his regional engagement, Trump stated, “I have a very good relationship with the Middle East.”
