Tragic Fire in Almaty Hostel Claims 13 Lives

A devastating fire broke out in a hostel in Almaty, Kazakhstan, resulting in the tragic loss of 13 lives, officials confirmed. The cause of death was determined to be carbon monoxide poisoning, according to the city’s emergency situations department.

The fire ignited in the basement of a three-story building that served as a hostel for 72 guests. Unfortunately, 13 individuals lost their lives, and efforts are underway to establish their identities. Fifty-nine people managed to escape the blaze safely.

Among those requiring medical assistance were four individuals, including a student from India, as reported by the news website Zakon.kz. The victims hailed from various nationalities, with nine being Kazakhs, and two each from Russia and Uzbekistan, according to police statements.

Authorities are actively investigating the origin of the fire and have established a special commission to delve into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. The community is left mourning the loss of lives and awaiting further details on the investigation.
