Tariq Khan Joins M&CO Legal as Head of International Arbitration in the UAE

Tariq Khan has officially joined M&CO Legal, a prominent UAE law firm, as the Head of International Arbitration, bringing a wealth of expertise to the firm’s disputes team. With a career that spans across multiple jurisdictions and industries, Khan has honed his skills as both a counsel and an arbitrator, making him an invaluable addition to M&CO Legal’s arbitration practice.

The addition of Khan was welcomed by M&CO Managing Partner Hafidh Thani, who said, “M&CO continues its commitment to bringing high-caliber international expertise to our team, and Mr. Khan’s arrival is a testament to that commitment.” The founding partner of M&CO, Dr. Mahmood Hussain, also greeted Khan and highlighted his outstanding standing in international arbitration as well as his shown ability to handle intricate, high-stakes conflicts in a variety of industries. Khan’s vast knowledge, he continued, will greatly improve the firm’s arbitration practice.

Khan worked till 2021 as a Partner at Advani & Co. in New Delhi before to joining M&CO. The Court of Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) member and managing partner at Advani Law, Hiroo Advani, commended Khan’s advancement in the field of international arbitration, saying, “I have closely observed Tariq’s development into an expert in international arbitration over the past decade.” He will be a tremendous asset to M&CO, and I have no doubt that his experience will significantly improve the arbitration environment in the United Arab Emirates.

Khan’s previous role as the Founding Registrar of the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre in Hyderabad further exemplifies his influence in the field. Khan’s efforts to increase the center’s prominence in the field of international arbitration were recognized by the IAMC Hyderabad Trustees. They also sent their best wishes to Khan as he resumes his arbitration practice and starts the next phase of his career.

Throughout his distinguished career, Khan has handled many complex and high-value arbitrations in industries such as construction, energy, infrastructure, intellectual property and joint ventures. In addition to his practical experience, Khan is an academic, serving as an adjunct professor at various universities and has authored several books, including a commentary on Indian Arbitration Law. His services to the arbitration and mediation community go beyond the courtroom; he has been instrumental in educating judges, arbitrators, and other legal professionals.
