Tamil Nadu CM Stalin Discusses Investment Opportunities with UAE Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri

Chennai, Jul 25 (PTI) — Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin met with the UAE Minister for Economy, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, at the Secretariat in Chennai on Thursday. This meeting marked a significant step in advancing investment partnerships between Tamil Nadu and the United Arab Emirates.

Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, who is leading a delegation of 30 members, engaged in comprehensive discussions with Chief Minister Stalin. The talks were aimed at exploring and expanding investment opportunities in Tamil Nadu, with a particular focus on several key sectors. These sectors included logistics, retail, affordable housing, and food processing. The discussions underscored the importance of supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and fostering job creation within the state.

Chief Minister Stalin took to social media to express his enthusiasm about hosting the UAE Minister. “Delighted to host H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of @EconomyAE, today at the Secretariat,” Stalin posted. He also reminisced about their previous encounter during his visit to the UAE in March 2022, emphasizing the strong and positive relationship between Tamil Nadu and the UAE.

During their meeting, Stalin and Al Marri discussed various investment sectors in detail. They explored potential collaborations in logistics, retail, and affordable housing, highlighting how these areas could benefit from increased investment and partnership. Special attention was given to MSMEs, recognizing their crucial role in the economic landscape, and the need for creating new job opportunities.

The meeting was attended by several key figures, including State Industries Minister T. R. B. Rajaa, Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena, and senior officials from the Tamil Nadu government. Representatives from the UAE Embassy and leaders of international business groups were also present. Their participation underscored the collaborative efforts and shared commitment to driving economic development and strengthening the partnership between Tamil Nadu and the UAE.
