Chinese delegation praises Sharjah’s development efforts
Visit led by Nanjing Mayor highlights Sharjah’s growth, investment appeal, and commitment to international collaboration

Sharjah Strengthens Ties with China as Nanjing Delegation Explores Development Collaboration
SHARJAH – The Sharjah Municipal Council (SMC) and Sharjah City Municipality welcomed a high-level Chinese delegation headed by Nanjing Mayor Chen Zhichang. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen collaboration in important areas such the economy, tourism, and urban development.
Municipal Council Chairman Salem Ali Al Muhairi and Municipality Director-General Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji greeted the delegation. The tour, which was planned by the Sharjah Government Relations Department, is a reflection of Sharjah’s ongoing initiatives to strengthen ties with other countries and increase its involvement in the world.
Al Muhairi emphasized the importance of the visit, noting that Sharjah’s willingness to work with other countries strengthens its position as a leading destination for tourism, investment and quality of life. He said that the emirate’s progressive vision and commitment to enhancing global connectivity are the reasons behind its increasing international presence.
Al Tunaiji reiterated this point, stressing the value of forming strategic alliances with international partners. He noted that Sharjah is keen to share expertise in digital transformation, urban infrastructure and municipal governance, in line with the emirate’s ambitious development strategy.
In addition to praising Sharjah’s significant development achievements, Mayor Chen Shichang praised the emirate’s investment-friendly climate, rapid urban development and emphasis on sustainable and people-centric projects. In addition, he recognized the municipality’s commitment to implementing global best practices that improve public services and generally improve the quality of life of the population.
The meeting, which included representatives from the Chinese delegation, the municipal council and the local government, provided a forum for Sharjah and Nanjing to discuss shared interests and future collaborations.
