UAE Journalists Association Backs Anti-Online Trolling Campaign Launched by National Media Office
The United Arab Emirates Generalists Association (UAEJE) has announced its support for an anti-online trolling campaign launched by the National Media Office (NMO) Ajaq Sheikh Abdullah Bin Muhammad Bin Buti Al Hamad.
Online trolls or “electronic flies” are part of a collaboration between the UAEJA and the NMO to promote professional standards and strengthen national values.
On this occasion, Fatila Abdullah Al Muayini, President of the UAE Journalists Association, said the association is working to coordinate and engage with media organizations to support the national campaign against online trolling.
He said that this type of trolling is done by people who have hatred and hatred towards the success of the country, institutions and individuals, who use fake accounts to spread misinformation, spread destructive ideas and tarnish their achievements and successes.
Al Muwaini emphasized that the association focuses on raising awareness among citizens and social media users to combat these issues through various events and programs held throughout the year.
He pointed out that the association is currently organizing several training courses for young journalists and social media users who have the skills to counter the misogyny spread on social media and deal with malicious comments to safeguard national social peace and security.
Launched by the heads of the UAEJA and NMO, the campaign reiterates the state’s actions and leadership efforts to counter dissent and fundamental differences to improve security and stability across the region, as a basis for upholding the values of tolerance and the basis for using professional forms. Spreading the right values and dealing with fearful and destructive ideas spread by evil minded people.
Al Muayini urged the regional, Gulf and Arab media to follow this national campaign, as it plays an important role in addressing fake and contrived accounts that spread misinformation, undermine social values and morals, and defame public figures and successful individuals. slander He emphasized that awareness is the most powerful weapon to face these problems.
