Saudi Arabia : Emir of Tabuk Inaugurates SR1 Billion Worth of Development Projects and Launches Public Bus Transport

The Emir of the Tabuk region, Prince Fahd bin Sultan, inaugurated 34 new development projects worth approximately SR1 billion. The projects aim to enhance infrastructure and improve the quality of life in the cities and governorates of the region. The inauguration ceremony, attended by Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing Majed Al-Hogail, also marked the launch of the public bus transport project in the city of Tabuk. The projects include initiatives to develop the urban landscape, enhance road efficiency, create parks and pedestrian walkways, establish rainwater drainage networks, and address flood risks. The region has seen 69 projects under implementation, totaling over SR1.7 billion.

In his remarks, Minister Al-Hogail commended the support of Emir Prince Fahd for the ministry’s programs and projects, emphasizing that these efforts align with the goals of Vision 2030 to transform Saudi cities into smart and sustainable urban centers. The development projects cover diverse sectors, including tourism, entertainment, and health, contributing to the overall advancement of the region.

The public transport bus project, briefed by Dr. Rayan Al-Hazmi, the General Supervisor of Passenger Transport at the Transport General Authority, features 25 percent environmentally friendly electric buses, marking the Kingdom’s first clean energy bus route. The project comprises four routes, covering a total distance of 128.1 km with over 105 stations connecting major centers in the city. Prince Fahd inaugurated the public transport bus project, emphasizing its significance in promoting sustainable and efficient transportation in the Tabuk region.

Additionally, the Emir witnessed the signing ceremony of several investment project contracts for the mayoralty of the Tabuk region. These projects, with an investment return of up to SR235 million and a construction cost exceeding SR400 million, contribute to the economic development and growth of the region.
