Saudi Arabia Expands Halal Industry Leadership with 13 Key Agreements at Makkah Forum
JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia signed 13 agreements at a special event in Makkah, increasing its leadership in the halal industry by expanding investment, strengthening certification standards and improving food production.
The agreements, announced during the second edition of the Makkah Halal Forum held from February 25 to 27, include partnerships between the Halal Products Development Company, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund, and Al-Wataniya Poultry Farming, Golden Chicken Farms Co., and Ajlan & Bros Holding Group.
To promote global certification and industry research, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development Council partnered with Slovenia’s Kulin World, Thailand’s Halal Science Center, and Brazil’s Fambras Halal.
Additionally, First Milling Co. and MODON signed a deal to enhance halal food production infrastructure, while Ghitha Alzad secured agreements within the food sector
Held under the theme of “Sustainable Growth through Halal” and inaugurated by Saudi Minister of Commerce Majid Al-Kassabi, the forum is in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of economic diversification and private sector expansion.
Saudi Arabia, considered the birthplace of Islam and a major halal supplier, dominates the $7 trillion global halal market, which is expected to reach $10 trillion by 2030.
Muslim consumers are expected to spend $207 billion on halal-certified products, underscoring the industry’s strong growth potential.
The forum, which has attracted more than 150 companies from 15 nations, has developed into an essential platform for fostering innovation, improving standards, and securing Saudi Arabia’s place as a key participant in the global halal economy.
The agreements reached at the event promote economic expansion and commercial development across a range of industries. They create a foundation for halal science, contribute to the creation of educational and scientific materials, and enhance the forum’s standing globally.
A global gathering of industry leaders with an emphasis on sustainability and development, the forum facilitated collaboration on innovations and best practices in the halal sector, enhancing Saudi Arabia’s position in the international halal economy by providing a forum for business alliances and investment.
