Saudi Aid Agency KSrelief Engages in High-Level Meeting on Gaza Crisis in Brussels
BRUSSELS: A delegation from the Saudi aid agency KSrelief, led by Hana Omar, Director of the center’s Department of Partnerships and International Relations, actively participated in a pivotal meeting held in Brussels last week, dedicated to addressing the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
Chaired by the European Commission and France’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the meeting formed a crucial part of the High-Level European Humanitarian Forum’s third session, convened on March 18 and 19.
During her address at the gathering, Omar underscored the Kingdom’s steadfast commitment to alleviating the ramifications of the incessant violence in Gaza. She expressed sincere gratitude to Belgium for hosting the meeting amidst what she described as “escalating hostilities and blatant violations of international humanitarian law” in the region. Additionally, Omar conveyed heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering dedication of humanitarian workers in Gaza and extended condolences to the families affected by recent tragic events.
In a significant display of solidarity and humanitarian leadership, the Saudi leadership has been at the forefront of a comprehensive relief campaign for the Palestinian people in Gaza since November. This initiative, facilitated through the “Sahim” relief platform, has garnered substantial donations amounting to over $180 million, demonstrating the Kingdom’s unwavering support for those affected by the crisis.
The forum, which centered on assessing humanitarian needs in crisis-affected nations globally, emphasized the imperative of fostering enhanced cooperation between impacted countries, donors, international stakeholders, and the European Union. Participants reiterated the critical need to identify sustainable and effective solutions to humanitarian challenges, with a particular focus on the pressing situation in Gaza.
Through such concerted efforts and collaborative platforms, the international community endeavors to mitigate the suffering of vulnerable populations and work towards lasting peace and stability in regions affected by crises.
