Dubai RTA Announces Sheikh Zayed Road Closure and Metro Timing Extension for Dubai Run
Dubai: A City Redesigned for Community and Fitness
In anticipation of the much-anticipated Dubai Run, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced major adjustments to road access and metro timings on Sunday, November 24. The community will come together to celebrate health and fitness when Sheikh Zayed Road is temporarily converted into a running track as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC).
Road Closure Schedules
From the Trade Centre Roundabout to Al Qusais, Sheikh Zayed Road, a major thoroughfare, will be restricted to cars from 3:30 AM until 10:30 AM.
Other roads impacted by the closures include:
Al Sukook Street: Closed between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Boursa Street.
Lower Financial Centre Road: Closed between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard: Restricted to one-way traffic.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to plan their routes in advance and use alternate pathways to avoid delays. Recommended alternatives include:
Zaabeel Palace Street
Al Khail Road
Al Mustaqbal Road
Financial Centre Road (upper level)
Al Wasl Road
Extended Hours of Operation for the Dubai Metro
To facilitate travel for contestants and spectators, RTA has extended the Dubai Metro’s operational hours.
On November 24, the Red and Green Lines will both start service at 3:00 AM and run until midnight. Both locals and guests will have easy access to the event thanks to this modification.
Dubai Run: An Amazing Fitness Event
One of the DFC’s signature events, the Dubai Run, transforms the busy Sheikh Zayed Road into a vast running track. Families and fitness enthusiasts alike can participate in this inclusive event, which provides a 10-kilometer competitive course or a more laid-back 5-kilometer track for participants of all ages and fitness levels.
The Dubai Fitness Challenge, which started on October 26 and lasts for a month, culminates with this year’s Dubai Run. Thousands of people come together to celebrate a healthier and more active lifestyle, and the event represents the spirit of wellness and community.
Key Takeaway from the RTA “On Sunday, November 24, the RTA announces that roads will be closed from 3:30 AM until 10:30 AM in accordance with the Dubai Run.
