Pakistani Court Rejects Imran Khan’s Bail Plea and FIR Cancellation in Cipher Case
A Pakistani court has dismissed former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s petitions for bail and the cancellation of the first FIR in the cipher case, which alleges the leaking of state secrets and violations of national laws. Khan, who was arrested in August, faced charges for disclosing a diplomatic cable sent by the country’s embassy in Washington. The Islamabad High Court rejected Khan’s pleas after a hearing, confirming its decision on Friday. The case revolves around a document Khan claimed was evidence of a foreign conspiracy to remove him from power. Khan and his ally Shah Mahmood Qureshi have both pleaded not guilty.
