Jaishankar Visits UAE to Strengthen Bilateral Ties and Strategic Partnership
Abu Dhabi (UAE): Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in UAE on Thursday on an official visit. On social media platform X, the Indian Consulate in Dubai said that EAM’s visit is aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

India and the United Arab Emirates established diplomatic relations in 1972. When the UAE opened its embassy in India in 1972, India opened its embassy. United Arab Emirates in 1973.
India and the UAE enjoy strong cooperation with the United Nations. Both countries are part of several multilateral platforms such as BRICS, I2U2 (India-Israel-UAE-USA), and UAE-France-India (UFI) trilateral. The UAE was invited as the guest country for the G20 summit held under the chairmanship of India.
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the UAE in 2015, the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 34 years, the traditionally strong bilateral ties between India and the UAE gained new momentum. It marked the beginning of a new comprehensive and strategic partnership between the two countries. Since then, PM Modi has visited the UAE five more times, most recently to attend the COP28-Global Climate Action Summit in Dubai in November-December 2023.
In 2022, India and the UAE signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) during a virtual summit between Prime Minister Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. From the United Arab Emirates, President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed has visited several times. As Crown Prince, he traveled to Abu Dhabi in 2016 and 2017. As President of the United Arab Emirates, he traveled to India in September 2023 to attend the G20 Leaders’ Summit.
He attended the 2nd Virtual Global South Summit in November 2023. He was the Chief Guest at the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in Gujarat in January 2024. In June of this year, EAM Jaishankar met with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, his counterpart from the UAE, to talk about the all-encompassing strategic cooperation.
During his visit, Jaishankar also participated in the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations in Abu Dhabi. He, along with India’s Ambassador to the UAE, Sunjay Sudhir, presided over the Yoga Day celebrations at Louvre Abu Dhabi. (ANI)
