Indian Coast Guard Ship Shoor in Abu Dhabi to Strengthen India-UAE Maritime Ties
Goodwill visit enhances naval ties, regional security, and participation in IDEX/NAVDEX 2025

ICGS Shoor Visits Abu Dhabi to Strengthen India-UAE Maritime Cooperation
An official release stated that the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Shoor, a marine patrol vessel, made a goodwill visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Saturday.
From February 15 to 21, the ship will be in Abu Dhabi on a goodwill visit, enhancing the long-standing naval alliance between the UAE and India, the statement continued.
The visit is in line with India’s SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) policy, which prioritizes economic growth, regional stability and maritime security, and highlights the strategic importance of the Gulf region to India’s maritime interests. The visit strengthens bilateral ties between India and the UAE by enhancing information sharing and operational cooperation between the two entities.
ICGS Shoor will work professionally with the UAE National Coast Guard (UAE NCG) while there, concentrating on important topics including Maritime Law Enforcement (MLE), Maritime Pollution Response (MPR), and Maritime Search and Rescue (M-SAR).
The government stressed that these engagements strengthen regional maritime cooperation, enhance interoperability and enhance joint readiness to address emerging security challenges.
A key highlight of the visit is ICGS Shoor’s participation in the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX-2025) and Naval Defence Exhibition and Conference (NAVDEX-2025), the premier international defence exhibition to be held at Port Saeed, Abu Dhabi. IDEX/NAVDEX provides a platform for India to showcase its maritime capabilities, cutting-edge security technologies and commitment to fostering global partnerships for maritime security.
India’s present in the event demonstrates its commitment to maintaining regional stability as a responsible maritime power.
Additionally, 15 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets on board the ship will participate in activities that emphasize India’s dedication to environmental sustainability and fortify people-to-people ties between India and the United Arab Emirates as part of the Punit Sagar Abhiyan, a flagship initiative aimed at promoting cleaner oceans and increasing awareness about marine pollution.
The Ministry of Defense says that when ICGS Shoor visits Muscat, Oman, on February 25 following its visit to Abu Dhabi, it will further cement India’s maritime ties in the Gulf region.
As India expands its maritime footprint, the ICG is ready to strengthen partnerships to protect national interests, ensure freedom of navigation, and advance the broader objective of a safe, open, and inclusive maritime domain.
