India and Kenya Hold 3rd Joint Defense Cooperation Committee Meeting

The third edition of the Joint Defense Cooperation Council (JDCC) between India and Kenya was held on September 3, 2024 in New Delhi. The two countries discussed broad avenues for defense cooperation in areas such as military cooperation, training and defense industry. R&D etc.

The Kenyan delegation met representatives of the Indian Ministry of Defense in Delhi and the delegation will proceed to Pune where they will have a first-hand experience of their capabilities with representatives of the defense departments.

India shares a long, friendly and close relationship with Kenya. The Memorandum of Understanding on Defense Cooperation, signed in July 2016, has provided a legal framework for cooperation in various defense sectors for mutual benefit.

The JDCC is an ideal platform to discuss security cooperation issues at length and create an effective road map for further development of security relations between the two countries. The Indian team was led by Joint Secretary Shri Amitabh Prasad, while the Kenyan side was led by Major General David Kipkemboi Cater.
