Green Zone Tickets for COP28 in Dubai Expo City Sold Out on Opening Day

Dubai, UAE – On Sunday, December 3, the highly anticipated COP28 climate conference at Expo City in Dubai opened its doors to the public, attracting a surge of UAE residents eager to engage with various environmental topics. The COP28 team announced on social media the previous evening that all free tickets for the green zone, granting access to the event’s diverse attractions, had been sold out.

After two days of exclusive access for government officials, delegates, and negotiators, the public’s enthusiasm was evident as they flocked to explore the site. Families, friends, and colleagues gathered to delve into exhibits, discussions, and educational activities focused on sustainability and climate change.

Queues formed outside popular attractions, such as the House of Sustainability and the Al Wasl Dome. The House of Sustainability offered visitors a chance to explore the rich culture and history of the UAE, while the Al Wasl Dome featured an exhibition showcasing sustainable fashion.

For 12-year-old David, the event was an opportunity to deepen his understanding of renewable energy. Intrigued by the distinctive “pink fans” outside Expo City, he visited the Energy Hub’s Octopus stall to learn about the functioning of these windmill-like structures. The event, lasting until December 12, aims to unite countries in the collective fight against climate change.

Riti and Manasi, friends who met while studying in Manchester, attended COP28 to draw inspiration for their respective careers. Riti, running a sustainable packaging startup, highlighted the significance of eco-friendly packaging. Manasi, currently in finance but aspiring to shift to sustainability, expressed her deep concern for the environment and her quest for inspiration to make the career transition.

As Expo City continues to host COP28, attendees are engaging in meaningful discussions, gaining insights, and seeking inspiration to contribute to a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future.
