Emirates id expired? What do telecom companies do?
Is your Emirates ID about to expire? Or are you still waiting for an updated ID? During this time, you will get frequent messages from your telecom provider asking you to update ID or your phone connection will be disconnected.
This way you don’t have to worry about your telecom line being disconnected if you are unable to renew your Emirates ID on time or if you are still waiting for the updated ID. Telecom companies in the UAE have announced that they are giving you extra time to renew your ID even after it expires.
etisalat by e&:
etisalat by e& offers its customers a two-month offer period. So after crossing the expiry date of the ID, the customer will receive a reminder SMS to update the registration details with etisalat by e& in these two months.
If you miss this two month grace period, your mobile line will be disconnected. If so, you need to visit the etisalat by e& store or use its app to update your account.
du:
du customers can avail a grace period of 90 days to update their Emirates ID details. Also, according to a report published by du, the ID can be renewed either 30 days before the expiry date or 90 days after the expiry date. So in total, it gives customers 120 days to complete the process of renewing your ID.
So during these offer periods you can use UAE PASS to renew at self-service kiosks in du app and du stores.
But, du has revealed in a statement what will happen if it is not renewed within this grace period. Accordingly, outgoing services will be disconnected after 60 days of Emirates ID expiry. After 90 days, both outgoing and incoming services will be disconnected.
Whereas, if you renew the ID on the system after 60 days from the expiry date of your ID and only your mobile’s outgoing services are disconnected, you can renew your Emirates ID on the du system in the following ways:
1 ‘du’ app
2 self-service kiosks
3 du store.
When you miss the 90-day grace period, your line will be completely disconnected. Then, you will be able to access the du store. There, you can submit a new Emirates ID and keep your previous mobile number on the new SIM, the company said.
Additionally, even if a customer registers their new Emirates ID with du while the line is disconnected, the line will be reconnected within minutes, it said.
It is also important to remember that all these measures are in accordance with the regulations of the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA).
