Thousands Celebrate Diwali in Dubai’s Zabeel Park, Highlighting India-UAE Cultural Ties
Dubai: Thousands of Indian expatriates came to enjoy the festival of lights at the Diwali celebration organized by Emirates Loves India and the UAE Government Media Office. Crowded with locals and expats alike, Dubai’s Zabeel Park has become the hub of cultural diversity in the UAE.
Decorated with colorful lights, flowers, beautiful rangoli designs and festive decorations showcasing the richness of Indian culture, the park is a treat for the eyes and the mind of the visitors. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence of the UAE and Indian Ambassador to the UAE Sunjay Sudhir attended the event.
The UAE minister said that Diwali celebrations in the UAE reflect our culture and the values that the country shares with India and its greats. It reminds us that the UAE values cultural heritage from around the world. The friendship between India and the UAE is built on mutual trust, cooperation and common values. Celebrations like this strengthen that bond further. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan said that this special relationship will be strongly promoted in the coming years.
As part of the celebrations, many Indian industrialists and businessmen were honored at the function for their contribution to the UAE economy. Rizwan Sajan, founder of Danube, Atif Rehman, founder of Oro Properties, Nisha Jagtiani, Group Director of Landmark, Siddharth Balachandran, Executive Chairman and CEO of Beaumark Corporation Limited, Al Dobovy. Chairman and founder of the group, Dr. Surender Singh Kandhari, co-founder and co-CEO of Gulf Islamic Investment, Dr. Pankaj Gupta and others were honored in the function.
The Indian Ambassador said that the Diwali celebration here shows how deep the India-UAE relationship is. UAE is a country that welcomes more than 200 nationalities. Unlike other Indian festivals, Diwali is celebrated across the country across regions and religions. He added that the presence of thousands of people in Dubai to celebrate Diwali was truly wonderful and a tribute to the vibrant relationship between the two countries.
Rows of stalls set up in the park filled the curiosity of non-Indians with an exquisite variety of traditional Indian products such as handicraft jewellery, local decorative clothing and handicrafts. Adorned with unique Indian designs, these stalls also mesmerized visitors with their dazzling floral patterns.
Indian music programs played in a festive atmosphere added to the charm of the celebration. The people of Dubai left the stage of the festival where the hits of Rapper Badshah and the fusion music of Avial band poured out with joy and unity on their feet and minds.
