Dubai Launches Middle East’s First Drone Delivery System
Dubai officially launched the use of drones to deliver medicines and parcels on Tuesday, a major step in the city’s adoption of innovative transport technologies. The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) has granted its first drone delivery license to Keita Drone, which will initially operate six drones in the Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO).
It established four functional delivery lines inside the DSO, which served important sites like Dubai Digital Park and the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT-Dubai). Delivering necessities like food and medication as soon as possible is the goal of the routes.
Americana, RIT-Dubai and Fakih University Hospital are working with Geeta Drone to increase drone delivery capabilities and investigate emergency services and high-priority medical deliveries. The project is a testament to Dubai’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology into routine services.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the UAE and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), placed the inaugural order using the new system. . The order, issued by RIT-Dubai, was successfully delivered from a designated take-off point within DSO’s drone network.
Both Dubai and Abu Dhabi are accelerating efforts to adopt emerging transportation technologies such as drones and flying cars to reduce traffic congestion and improve logistics efficiency. This first-of-its-kind drone delivery system in the Middle East is part of Dubai’s broader vision to embrace cutting-edge solutions for a better future.
