PM Modi’s Historic Kuwait Visit Strengthens India-Kuwait Ties
KUWAIT CITY: The leaders of the two countries proudly noted that India-Kuwaiti relations have progressed to cooperate and work together in many fields.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has gone on a two-day visit to the West Asian country of Kuwait. The then Prime Minister Indira went there in 1981. After 43 years, this is the first visit by the Prime Minister of India.
Trade relations between the two countries already exist. Bilateral trade, in 2023-2024, stood at Rs 89,000 crore.
Kuwait is the sixth largest importer of petroleum products in our country. About 3 percent of the country’s total petroleum product requirements are sourced from the country.
A warm welcome:
India’s exports to Kuwait recently crossed Rs 17,000 crore for the first time. At the same time, the Kuwait Investment Authority has invested Rs 85,000 crore in our country.
In this context, Prime Minister Modi went there, accepting the invitation of the King of Kuwait, Sheikh Mashael Al Ahmed Al Jabar Al Shaba. Prime Minister Modi participated in several events yesterday, including a meeting with Indians living in Kuwait.
He met and talked to the King of Kuwait yesterday. Earlier, Modi was accorded a lavish reception at the King’s palace in Kuwait. He was also given a marching honor.
Following this, the two leaders met and held talks. At that time, cooperation in various sectors including information technology, pharmaceuticals, financial technology, infrastructure and defense were discussed in detail.
The two leaders expressed their happiness that despite the long-standing trade relationship between the two countries, it has advanced to the next level of cooperation and working together in many fields.
New peak:
Following this, Prime Minister Modi also met the Crown Prince Sheikh Shaba Al Khalid Al Shaba. At that time, both expressed happiness and shared mutual appreciation regarding the progress made in the relationship between the two sides.
“With Prime Minister Modi’s visit, the relationship between the two countries has reached a new high,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Rantir Jaiswal said in a social media post.
Before his talks with the King of Kuwait, Prime Minister Modi was awarded the country’s highest award, the ‘Order of Mubarak Al Kabir’.
This was presented by the King of Kuwait. According to the Kuwaiti government, Modi is being given this award for his great contribution to the development of bilateral relations.
Earlier, the award has been given to US President Bill Clinton, George Bush and Britain’s King Charles III.
In addition to this, PM Modi has been conferred with the highest awards of 20 countries so far.
