Under Sheikh Mohammed's directive, 192 tonnes of aid dispatched for Lebanon’s displaced families ahead of winter

Dubai Humanitarian Mobilizes Large-Scale Relief Effort for Lebanon’s Conflict-Displaced, Directed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid

Under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Humanitarian has initiated a significant relief operation for those displaced by ongoing conflict in Lebanon. In partnership with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), Dubai Humanitarian has mobilized a convoy of 27 trucks, collectively carrying 192 metric tonnes of essential relief supplies. This urgent aid, supported by Dubai Humanitarian’s Global Humanitarian Impact Fund, departed on November 4, delivering life-saving resources to Lebanese families as winter approaches and amplifies their hardships.

Relief Mission Details

The UAE’s support for Lebanon amid its humanitarian crisis is demonstrated by this convoy, which is one of the biggest that Dubai Humanitarian has coordinated. In order to assist families who have been displaced from areas such as South Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and the southern suburbs of Beirut, supplies include essential necessities like blankets, winter clothing, and shelter materials. These supplies are crucial as winter approaches because they enable vulnerable populations to endure the severe circumstances of makeshift shelters, which frequently offer little protection from the cold.

His Excellency Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Chairman of Dubai Humanitarian, expressed the UAE’s commitment to humanitarian solidarity, stating, “Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Dubai stands firmly by Lebanon in this time of crisis.

This convoy demonstrates our commitment to reducing human suffering and giving hope to communities facing extraordinary adversity, as well as our shared values of compassion and cooperation.

Khaled Khalifa, the UNHCR’s Senior Advisor and Representative to the Gulf Cooperation Council nations, expressed gratitude for the UAE’s ongoing assistance. “The shipment today reaffirms the UAE’s crucial contribution to global humanitarian aid initiatives. We are making a significant move in partnership with Dubai Humanitarian to meet the pressing needs of displaced families who are losing their warmth and safety,” Khalifa said.

Lebanon’s Dire Need and Dubai’s Response

Lebanon is grappling with a humanitarian emergency following escalated regional conflicts, with over 1.2 million displaced individuals, according to government sources. The rising number of displaced individuals has placed significant pressure on Lebanon’s resources, as demands for shelter, healthcare, financial support, and essential services surge.

Dubai Humanitarian’s strategic response aims to bridge the gap between the urgent needs and the limited resources available. Essential aspects of this relief operation are to ensure access to safe housing, emergency health care, cash support, protection services, and psychological support. Given Lebanon’s vulnerable situation, additional funding and international support are required to maintain and expand these critical relief activities.

A Symbol of Gulf Solidarity

The UAE’s response reflects the longstanding Gulf cooperation in addressing humanitarian crises and extends the region’s legacy of philanthropy and neighborly support. This aid initiative embodies the UAE’s vision of proactive humanitarian assistance, particularly in times of acute need. By partnering with the UNHCR, Dubai Humanitarian demonstrates the strength of international collaboration, working towards sustained efforts to address Lebanon’s immediate crisis and prepare for the harsher conditions of winter.

As this humanitarian convoy makes its way to Lebanon, it carries with it not only material supplies but a message of resilience, partnership, and shared responsibility toward those affected by conflict, extending a lifeline of hope and relief to communities most in need.
