Ferry between Dubai and Sharjah: start from next month
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that the sea transport service between Dubai and Sharjah via Dubai Ferry, which has been suspended for the past few years, will resume from August 4. It is noteworthy that earlier in 2020, this service was stopped due to the threat of corona epidemic spread around the world.
According to the information released by the Authority, Dubai Ferry Service will operate eight trips daily from Monday to Thursday and six trips from Friday to Sunday.
Hence, this dubai ferry service is said to ease the movement between Dubai and Sharjah and help in decongesting traffic.
Also, in collaboration with RTA in Sharjah, for the first time this marine service has been launched between Al Qubaibah Marine Station in Dubai and Aquarium Marine Station in Sharjah to connect Dubai with other emirates.
The journey from Al Qubaibah Station to Sharjah Aquarium Station takes about 35 minutes. On weekdays two ferries depart from Sharjah at 7am and 8.30am and one from Dubai departs at 7.45am.
Similarly, there will be two departures from Sharjah at 4:45 and 6:15 pm and three departures from Dubai at 4, 5:30 and 7 pm.
In addition, a total of six trips will be operated on weekends, Friday to Sunday, from noon, with three departures from each emirate. Accordingly, departures from Sharjah will operate at 2pm, 4pm and 6pm, while journeys from Dubai will operate at 3pm, 5pm and 8pm.
Ticket Details:
Dubai Ferries charges AED 15 for Silver Class and AED 25 for Gold Class per journey. However, disabled persons and children under five years of age can enjoy the ride for free.
Tickets can also be purchased online at the RTA website or by using a NOL card and paying at the customer service desk at the station.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority launched a ferry service on July 27 for passengers traveling between Al Qubaibah Marine Station in Dubai and Aquarium Marine Station in Sharjah, marking the first sea transport service to operate between Dubai and other emirates in 2019. After that, the service was suspended due to the 2020 pandemic outbreak.
