Crackdown on Illegal Tobacco Trade in Bahrain

In a significant operation targeting illegal activities, Bahrain Police have apprehended five individuals of Asian descent, aged between 28 and 35, for their involvement in the possession and sale of prohibited tobacco materials known as “Tumbak.” The confiscated contraband is estimated to be valued at approximately BD60,000, underscoring the scale of the illicit trade. Acting on crucial information, the Capital Governorate Police Directorate swiftly launched search and investigation operations, leading to the identification and apprehension of the suspects in a shop within the governorate’s capital. The illegal tobacco materials were concealed within rolls of fabric, indicating attempts to evade detection. Legal measures have been initiated, ensuring that those responsible will face appropriate consequences for their actions.
