Abu Dhabi to Host Inaugural Sail Grand Prix: A Thrilling Spectacle on the Water!

Abu Dhabi is all set to host the inaugural Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix on January 13 and 14, 2024. This exciting racing event will be held at Abu Dhabi’s Mina Zayed and will feature top athletes from national teams around the world, competing in hydrofoiling F50 catamarans capable of speeds nearing 100 km/h.
In collaboration with SailGP’s Global Series Partner, Mubadala Investment Company, and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, this event marks a significant addition to SailGP’s Season 4 schedule. SailGP is known for its high-speed action and has rapidly gained popularity as one of the fastest-growing sports leagues globally.
Ten teams representing countries including Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States will compete over two days, racing close to the shore in Abu Dhabi’s port.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, President of the Emirates Modern Sailing and Rowing Federation, expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the world’s most thrilling sailing boat race in the UAE.
As the event’s Title Partner and Global Series Partner of the Inspire Program, Mubadala Investment Company is supporting SailGP’s efforts to promote STEM education and inclusivity. SailGP’s Inspire initiative has already engaged over 15,000 young people worldwide, with the goal of reaching 25,000 young people by the end of 2025.

This event promises an exhilarating experience for both sailing enthusiasts and spectators alike.
