UAE Issues Red and Yellow Warnings for Fog, Rain Expected Today
Red and yellow warnings have been issued in parts of the UAE due to dense fog on Thursday morning. The National Meteorological Center has said that there is a chance of rain this afternoon.
The NCM has warned residents of low visibility till 9am today, which will reduce further in coastal and inland areas.
Abu Dhabi Police has called on motorists to exercise caution due to reduced visibility during fog. Motorists have been asked to abide by the speed limits displayed on electronic information boards.
The authority also lowered the speed limit on several roads in the capital to 80 kmph. They are: Shaikh Khalifa Bin Saeed Int. Road (Al Wahida Bridge – Al Quwaifat), Sweehan Road (Sayed Military City – Al Falah), Mohammed Bin Rashid Road (Al Shahama Bridge – Al Falah), Makhdoom Bin Rashid Road (Sey Al Chetira Tunnel – Qizad), and Mohammed Bin Rashid Road (Seih Al Sedirah – Kizad).
Today the weather will be generally fair and partly cloudy at times, with the possibility of some convective clouds forming towards the east.
Some coastal and inland areas will be humid with mist or fog in the morning. Light to moderate winds are set to blow, refreshing at times.
The sea is shallow in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea areas.
Temperatures are expected to drop as low as 26 degrees Celsius in some parts of the UAE, with a maximum of 49 degrees Celsius in interior areas.
