UAE Weather: Orange Alert for Rain and Dust Issued

NCM warns of convective clouds bringing rain and winds, with humidity increasing overnight ahead of the fall equinox

UAE Issues Orange Alert for Rain and Dust as Weather Changes

According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), an orange alert has been issued for the formation of convective clouds which will bring rain and fresh winds at times causing dust.

According to the Meteorological Department, fresh winds with a speed of 40 km per hour will blow in some eastern parts of the country.

The alert has been issued from 6.15 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, September 19.

Wadi Al Ijili Wadi Tuwa in Ras Al Khaimah received moderate rainfall.

The NCM had earlier issued a yellow alert due to the possibility of convective clouds that would bring rain and fresh winds.

On Thursday morning, the Met Department said that residents can expect generally good weather, with partly cloudy skies at times.

Humidity will increase overnight and into Friday morning, especially along the coast and some inland areas, increasing the chance of fog or mist forming.

The UAE’s summer officially ends on September 22. Colder weather is predicted for the coming days.

September 22, at 4:44 p.m. local time, marks the beginning of the fall equinox, during which the sun’s rays reach the northern and southern hemispheres in equal measure.
