UAE Weather: Yellow Alert for Dust, Rain Expected Over Islands and Northern Regions
Today’s weather will be partly cloudy or cloudy with rain likely over islands and northern regions, with occasional dust storms, the National Meteorological Center (NCM) said.
Although rain is expected in some parts of the country, wet weather will continue on Monday night and into Tuesday morning. This may lead to the formation of fog, especially in some inland areas.
NCM has issued a yellow warning for strong north-westerly winds with a speed of up to 45 kmph at times. This will cause dust and sand to blow and horizontal visibility will drop below 2,500 meters at times from 11pm on Sunday to 12pm on Monday over the islands and some western areas.
Seas in the Arabian Gulf will be rough and initially rough, while in the Oman Sea it will be moderate to small.
Residents can expect more pleasant conditions in the coming weeks as the UAE transitions to a cooler winter climate. Temperatures can reach 8°C in the mountains and 29°C in the interior.
“From December 16, northwesterly winds with cold air masses will blow over the region, causing a gradual drop in temperatures. Temperatures across the UAE are expected to drop by 5-7 degrees Celsius, starting from the western regions and gradually spreading to the rest of the country.
“Throughout, the maximum temperature in the UAE will be 25-26 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 12 degrees Celsius.”
