Bangladesh Set for Two T20Is in Sharjah Amid Packed Cricket Season

Bangladesh will go to the United Arab Emirates for a two-match Twenty20 International series later this month. The matches will take place at the storied Sharjah Cricket Stadium on May 17 and 19, according to the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB). The two teams last met in a Twenty20 International series in Dubai in 2022, and this brief bilateral series is their first meeting since then.

ECB COO Subhan Ahmad expressed enthusiasm about hosting Bangladesh again, emphasizing the board’s commitment to giving the UAE national team opportunities to compete against Full Member nations. “This series is part of our ongoing effort to elevate UAE cricket and prepare our players through exposure to top-tier teams,” he stated.

The UAE has become a prominent destination for international cricket in recent years, having hosted teams like New Zealand, the West Indies, and Afghanistan. The return of the Bangladesh team to the team confirms Sharjah’s growing status as a reliable venue for international matches.

Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, CEO of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), praised the efforts of the ECB and said that the matches would be a welcome return for the Bangladesh team. A five-match Twenty20 International series in Pakistan, an extensive tour of Sri Lanka and a home series against India are on their packed itinerary, which is seen as crucial for their Asia Cup preparations and team building in general.

The series is expected to provide exciting cricket to fans in the region and strengthen the athletic ties between the two cricketing bodies.
