UAE set to host 7th International Rain Enhancement Forum on water security
Abu Dhabi [UAE], January 25: The UAE Rainfall Enhancement Science Research Programme (UAEREP) and the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) have finished getting ready for the 7th International Rainfall Enhancement Forum (IREF), which will take place on Tuesday, January 28.
Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the Court for Presidential Development and Fallen Heroes Affairs, is present at the three-day forum, which is sponsored by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court.
Alya Al Mazrouei, Director of UAEREP and Director of the Research and Meteorological Enhancement Department at NCM, said the forum reflects the UAE’s commitment to innovation and international cooperation in addressing water challenges. The event will further strengthen the country’s role as a global centre of excellence in meteorology and rainfall enhancement science.
The forum will bring together world-renowned scholars, politicians, experts, and keynote speakers to talk about climate change and water security.
In keeping with UAEREP’s tenth anniversary, the event will recognize the people and institutions that have helped make the program a success. Additionally, the program’s sixth rewards cycle will begin.
Artificial intelligence, applied research, capacity building, innovation, and collaboration are the forum’s five main strategic pillars.
The extensive sessions at IREF will cover topics such as limited area climate interventions, unusual and creative research applications in rainfall enhancement, new glacier and water-absorbing cloud seeding materials, AI and physics-based models and data science for climate and weather research, regional and global perspectives on water security, and AI and climate change.
Along with important international institutions like the World Water Council, Khalifa University, and the World Meteorological Organization, there will be keynote speakers from the US, UK, India, China, and Russia.
The forum seeks to establish the UAE as a world leader in cutting-edge research and innovation related to rainfall development.
