UAE, Indian Leaders Strongly Condemn Pahalgam Terror Attack; Pledge Justice and Support for Victims
Abu Dhabi/New Delhi, April 22 – The United Arab Emirates has issued a strong condemnation of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as a “heinous” act targeting innocent tourists. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in an official statement reaffirmed its opposition to all forms of violence and terrorism that threaten international peace and security, expressing its sincere condolences to the Government of India, the Indian people and the families of the victims of the incident.
The UAE expressed its sympathy with India at this sad time, and underlined that such crimes are against international law and humanitarian principles. The country also wishes a speedy recovery to all those injured in the incident.
India’s top leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have also condemned the attack in the strongest terms. In a message shared via the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s official handle on X (formerly Twitter), President Murmu called the attack “shocking and painful,” stating that the targeting of innocent civilians—especially tourists—is “utterly appalling and unpardonable.” She expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and offered prayers for the swift recovery of the injured.
“I strongly condemn the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured,” Prime Minister Modi said in a statement. He assured that those responsible for the attack will be brought to justice and that terrorism will not succeed in its evil intentions, reaffirming the government’s unwavering resolve to fight terrorism.
Following the attack, Union Home Minister Amit Shah flew to Srinagar, where he chaired a high-level security meeting with senior law enforcement and intelligence officials to assess the situation and discuss swift counter-terrorism measures. The main objectives of the meeting were to enhance intelligence coordination and ensure speedy arrest of those involved in the violence.
India’s strong domestic response and international condemnation demonstrate its united front against terrorism and its commitment to protecting the safety and security of civilians, including in tourist areas like Pahalgam.
