Sharjah Ruler Approves New Logos and Initiatives for Municipalities in the Eastern Province

Sharjah, UAE: Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved the adoption of new logos for three municipalities in the eastern province: Kalba, Khorfakkan, and Dibba Al Hisn. This announcement was made during the “Direct Line” program, broadcast on radio and television.

New Logos for Municipalities

The introduction of new logos for Kalba, Khorfakkan, and Dibba Al Hisn is part of a strategic effort to modernize the visual identity of these municipalities. The updated logos aim to reflect the unique cultural and historical significance of each area while fostering a stronger sense of community pride and unity. These new logos are expected to enhance the recognition and branding of the municipalities, making them more identifiable and promoting a cohesive image that aligns with Sharjah’s broader development goals.

The design process for the new logos likely involved consultations with local historians, artists, and community leaders to ensure that the symbols chosen accurately represent the heritage and aspirations of each municipality. This inclusive approach helps to instill a sense of ownership and pride among residents, as the logos are not just superficial changes but are deeply rooted in the community’s identity.

Provision of Land for Parks

During the “Direct Line” program, Sheikh Dr. Sultan also emphasized the importance of enhancing the quality of life for residents by increasing green spaces and recreational areas. He called for the provision of plots of land for establishing parks within all neighborhoods of the central region of the emirate. This directive was issued to the Department of Planning and Survey.

The creation of these parks is expected to provide residents with accessible areas for leisure, exercise, and community gatherings. By promoting outdoor activities and offering spaces for social interaction, these parks will contribute significantly to the overall well-being of the population. They will serve as venues for family outings, sports, and cultural events, thereby fostering a healthier and more active lifestyle among residents.

Moreover, the development of parks within neighborhoods will help to improve the environmental quality of the area. Green spaces play a crucial role in urban planning by reducing air pollution, providing habitats for wildlife, and mitigating the urban heat island effect. These parks will also serve as educational spaces where residents, especially children, can learn about the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability.

Name Change for the Qalaa Mosque

In addition to the adoption of new logos and the provision of land for parks, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi directed a name change for the Qalaa Mosque in Kalba. The mosque will be renamed as Khor Kalba Mosque. This renaming is part of a broader initiative to preserve and promote the cultural and historical heritage of the region.

The name “Khor Kalba Mosque” reflects the geographical and cultural significance of the area, as “Khor” refers to a creek or inlet, which is a prominent feature of Kalba. By renaming the mosque, the Ruler aims to strengthen the connection between the mosque and its surrounding environment, making it a landmark that embodies the identity and history of Kalba.

This renaming also serves to honor the traditions and historical narratives of the region, ensuring that they are remembered and celebrated by future generations. The mosque, being a central place of worship and community gathering, plays a pivotal role in the social and spiritual life of the residents. The new name will resonate with the local community and enhance the mosque’s significance as a cultural and religious symbol.

Enhanced Focus on Community Development

The directives issued by Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi underscore his commitment to community development and the well-being of Sharjah’s residents. By updating the logos of the municipalities, providing land for parks, and renaming a significant mosque, the Ruler is ensuring that the emirate continues to grow in a manner that respects its cultural heritage while meeting the modern needs of its inhabitants.

These initiatives reflect a holistic approach to urban development that balances modernity with tradition. The focus on creating public spaces, preserving cultural heritage, and fostering community pride aligns with global best practices in sustainable urban planning. This approach not only enhances the quality of life for current residents but also ensures that Sharjah remains an attractive destination for future generations and visitors.

These initiatives reflect the vision of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi for a vibrant, well-planned, and culturally rich Sharjah. The adoption of new logos for Kalba, Khorfakkan, and Dibba Al Hisn, the provision of land for parks in all neighborhoods, and the renaming of the Qalaa Mosque to Khor Kalba Mosque are significant steps towards enhancing the emirate’s infrastructure, cultural identity, and quality of life for its residents.

By taking these measures, Sharjah is positioning itself as a leader in sustainable urban development, demonstrating how cultural heritage and modern growth can coexist harmoniously. The emirate’s commitment to community well-being, environmental sustainability, and cultural preservation sets a benchmark for other regions to follow. Through these actions, Sharjah continues to build a legacy of progress that honors its past while embracing the future.
