UAE Strengthens Global Energy Commitment at BRICS Meeting in Brasília
BRASÍLIA: The United Arab Emirates has reaffirmed its dedication to accelerating the global energy transition while ensuring energy security and international cooperation. The pledge was made during the Second Meeting of the BRICS Committee of Senior Energy Officials, where high-ranking representatives from member states gathered to discuss sustainable energy strategies.
The discussions emphasized the critical balance between preserving energy security and furthering sustainable development, with a focus on transitioning to a low-carbon economy. The UAE, well-known for its leadership in energy transformation and advancements in hydrogen and renewable energy, highlighted its considerable accomplishments.
These include universal access to electricity and clean cooking fuels, substantial investments in renewable energy projects, and improved energy efficiency.
Additionally, the meeting highlighted the necessity of executing the landmark “UAE Consensus” established at COP28, which sets ambitious targets such as tripling global renewable energy capacity and doubling energy efficiency by 2030. These objectives are strongly related to the BRICS’ long-term vision for a clean, sustainable energy future.
By maintaining its strong commitment and making strategic investments, the UAE is cementing its place as a vital worldwide partner in pushing the transition to green and sustainable energy sources.
