UAE President and Russian President Discuss Bilateral Relations and Mediation Efforts


Abu Dhabi [UAE], March 24: UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a phone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which they discussed various aspects of their strategic partnership, including bilateral cooperation and diplomatic efforts.

The discussion highlighted the growing relationship between Russia and the United Arab Emirates, as both presidents reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing cooperation in a variety of fields. In order to further shared interests, strengthen political and economic ties, and advance regional stability, they underlined the significance of cooperating.

Recognition for UAE’s Mediation Efforts
President Putin thanked the United Arab Emirates during the call for its recent efforts to mediate the prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine. He recognized the UAE’s contribution to humanitarian efforts and involvement in promoting communication that lessen the effects of the current conflict.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan thanked the Russian government for its involvement in these mediation efforts and recognized the value of diplomatic engagement in resolving humanitarian issues. He reiterated the UAE’s ongoing backing for initiatives aimed at advancing peace and settling conflicts amicably through discussion and compromise.

Commitment to peace and stability
In addition, the two leaders discussed matters of common interest at the regional and global levels. Sheikh Mohammed reiterated the UAE’s unwavering commitment to promoting global peace, stability and diplomatic solutions to disputes. The UAE continues to support constructive dialogue and international cooperation to resolve global issues.

Successful Mediation and Prisoner Exchange
A prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine was successfully mediated by the UAE on March 19, leading to the release of 175 convicts from each country, for a total of 350 captives. The UAE’s mediation efforts, which have enabled the exchange of 3,233 inmates in 13 different discussions, have reached yet another significant milestone.

The UAE’s mediation efforts continue to promote worldwide peace and humanitarian assistance as it solidifies its position as a significant diplomatic actor on the global scene.
