Dubai: The family of an Indian grocery distributor who was paralyzed in a car accident in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2022 has been awarded Dh5 million (Rs 11,43,19,150) as compensation. .

In 2023, the court awarded compensation to Shifin Kummali’s parents, which was awarded during a conference in Dubai on Monday, September 9.

According to a report by Khaleej Times, Kummali, now 24, from Malappuram, Kerala, was hit by a car driven by a UAE national while delivering groceries in Al Ain in March 2022. The driver then fled the scene. attacked him but was caught by the police with the help of CCTV.

Kummali suffered a brain injury and was treated at UAE hospitals before being sent to India in 2023 for further medical treatment.

Gulf of France attorneys Isa Anees, under the direction of attorneys UC Abdullah and Mohammad Fazil, handled the matter with skill.

Taking into account Kummali Dirham’s physical and mental state, the Insurance Authority Court granted him 2.8 million dirham (Rs 6,40,24,716) in 2022 as compensation.

The Court of Appeal awarded Dh5 million, which was later maintained by the Supreme Court, after the legal team allegedly argued for larger compensation owing to the severity of the injuries and future medical demands.
