The UAE has taken a major step in combating hate speech, prejudice, hatred, and extremism in the nation by enforcing stringent legislative measures.

Laws Concerning Hate Speech
People who use hate speech in any way shall be subject to harsh legal repercussions under Article 7 of the UAE order.

A wide variety of media, including social media and channels, are covered by the law’s expansive definition of hate speech.

One of the two main punishments for offenders is a minimum of one year in prison and a hefty fine of between Dh500,000 and Dh1 million.

The UAE maintains a “zero tolerance policy” against hate speech and discrimination of any kind, the Public Prosecutor has reaffirmed.

The goal of the action is to maintain social harmony and stop provocative or divisive content from spreading across all social media channels.
