Harmanpreet Kaur and Team India Gear Up for T20 World Cup Challenge in UAE

The second T20 World Cup of the year is about to begin, and as the Indian women’s cricket team looks to win their first title, all eyes will be on them.

India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur will spearhead the country’s efforts in the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. On October 4, India will open play against New Zealand.
The Women in Blue will face defending champions Australia, Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the group stages.

The ninth edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup will be held in Dubai and Sharjah from October 3 to 20. India will play three of their four matches in Dubai, including the opener against New Zealand. Their last group game against Australia is in Sharjah.

India’s campaign ended on a painful note in the last two editions. In front of a record crowd at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, India lost to hosts Australia in the final of the 2020 edition. Three years later in South Africa, the Indian team fell short in the semi-finals and again, the Aussies.

However, the growth of the women’s team over the past few years has fueled hopes among fans that glory days are just around the corner.

Harmanpreet & Co enters the competition in 2024 on the back of an impressive track record. They have played 16 T20Is this year and won 11 of them.

India is fielding one of its experienced teams in this tournament. A good number of team members have featured in the last two editions and are eager to erase those memories with the trophy in this edition.
