UAE’s Humanitarian Spirit Shines Through in Myanmar Earthquake Relief Mission
Abu Dhabi, April 10 – The UAE’s unwavering dedication to humanitarian values was once again on full display as the nation’s elite search and rescue team returned from their mission in Myanmar, where they provided critical assistance following a devastating earthquake.
The delegation was welcomed to the UAE by Brigadier Salem Abdullah bin Barak Al Thaheri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority. He commended Colonel Muzaffar Mohammed Al Ameri and his leadership for carrying out an operation that saved lives and reduced suffering on the ground, and acknowledged their exceptional professionalism and bravery.
President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered the mission, which further cements the UAE’s position as a global leader in humanitarian assistance and rapid response. The team, which includes members of the National Guard, the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police, the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority and the Joint Operations Command, worked closely with foreign relief organizations and Myanmar authorities in the six zones hardest hit by the earthquake.
During the departure ceremony at Yangon International Airport, the Chief Minister of Yangon Region personally commended the work of the UAE team and expressed his sincere gratitude for the prompt and efficient assistance that mitigated the impact of the disaster.
The UAE’s participation, beyond the technical brilliance of the rescue efforts, brought to light a deeper story – the country’s enduring ideology of compassion without borders. In times of need, the Emirates not only responds quickly, but also upholds the principles of compassion, solidarity and global cooperation.
