Kathmandu, April 1: The Government of Nepal has expressed its deep appreciation to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for granting amnesty to 166 Nepali nationals who were illegally residing in the country, including some serving jail sentences due to a lack of valid travel documents.
The Nepalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement expressing profound gratitude for the UAE’s compassionate decision to give amnesty to individuals on humanitarian grounds. The amnesty was granted during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid celebrations, highlighting the two countries’ strong diplomatic relations and goodwill.
The decision was made in response to an official request from Nepal’s embassy in Abu Dhabi, as a show of bilateral collaboration and mutual respect. As a result of this move, the pardoned persons can now begin their journey home, which is a huge relief for them and their families.
