UAE Extends Visa Amnesty Program for Foreigners Until December 31

The UAE’s Visa Amnesty Program for Foreigners Is Extended Through December 31
Beginning on September 1, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended its visa amnesty program by two months, enabling visa violators to change their status or depart the country without facing penalties.
The deadline has been moved from October 31 to December 31.

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) announced the extension, which symbolizes the UAE’s dedication to humanitarian ideals and coincides with the 53rd Union Day celebrations. Additionally, it responds to petitions from violators who want to get work contracts or leave the country in order to regularize their status.

Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of ICP, emphasized that this is the final opportunity for overstayers to regularize their stay in the UAE without facing a ban. He noted that there has been a notable increase in participants taking advantage of the program in recent months.

Al Khaili mentioned that the ICP and its partners are working to assist violators, utilizing their legal powers to find solutions. He affirmed that the fines will automatically begin to accrue on January 1, 2025, and that this will be the final extension.

Companies are advised not to hire anyone who are overstaying or breaking visa rules because they risk fines of up to one million Dirhams. This year’s program is the fourth of its kind since 2007, the prior one being a 90-day program that was extended for more offenders six years ago.
