Recent Testing Confirms Presence of Chickenpox, Not Monkeypox, in Returned Traveler from Sharjah

Thiruvarur Youth Affected by Monkeypox? Minister Subramanian Clarifies the Situation
Chennai: The Thiruvarur youth who came to Tamil Nadu by flight from Sharjah is not affected by ringworm. There is an outbreak of chicken pox,” said Subramanian, Minister of People’s Welfare.
His interview:
A 27-year-old man arrived in Trichy from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates two days ago. As he was suffering from fever, the doctors at Trichy airport took him to a separate room and examined him.
As he had some blisters on his body, he was admitted to Trichy Hospital for treatment; He escaped from there.
Concerned about his welfare and realizing that he would harm others, we went to Tiruvarur Valangaiman with the help of the police, brought him and admitted him to Trichy Hospital.
A sample of the blisters on his body was taken and tested at the King Institute, Chennai. In it, it was found that there was no Monkeypox and ‘chicken pox’ was present.
We have sent it to the National Virology Research Center, Pune for re-examination. Test results will come today or tomorrow.
As the Monkeypox disease is spreading all over the world, the work of ‘screening’ for travelers coming from foreign countries is continuously going on at international airports like Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Trichy.
If there is fever, we test for mumps. In cities with international airports, government hospitals have special wards for leprosy.
In this year’s Diwali firecracker accidents, less than 20 percent of people were injured.
There is no major impact due to precautionary and awareness measures. Northeast Monsoon has started rapidly.
Precautionary measures are being taken to avoid major damage. It was decided to conduct 1,000 medical camps during monsoon and 1,296 camps were conducted.
