UAE confirms Sudanese Army’s targeted attack on its ambassador’s residence in Khartoum

Assistant Minister Al Jaberi Highlights Violation of Diplomatic Norms

UAE Condemns Sudanese Attack on Ambassador’s Residence in Khartoum

ABU DHABI: Assistant Minister for Defense and Military Affairs Salem Al Jaberi has confirmed that the Sudanese army’s attack on the residence of the UAE ambassador in Khartoum has caused extensive damage to the building and surrounding areas. The attack was a blatant disregard for international norms and conventions, especially the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the core idea of the diplomatic precinct’s inviolability.

The false narrative being spread by the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its armed forces is undermined, he stressed, by images and evidence that unequivocally show that the ambassador’s residence was targeted. Al Jaberi also pointed out that the Sudanese Armed Forces are still trying to avoid moral and legal responsibility for the humanitarian crisis that the conflict has caused in Sudan and for the international efforts to bring an end to it. The UAE is still working hard with its partners to find a peaceful solution.

Al Jaberi emphasized further how the Sudanese armed forces’ persistent denial, attempts to assign blame, and refusal to take accountability demonstrate a flagrant contempt for the suffering of the people of Sudan and their justifiable hopes for security and development.
This is evident from the desperate efforts and accusations they have made over the past nine months as part of their agenda against the UAE.

He invited United Nations experts to review the evidence and assess the damage caused by the attack

In this regard, Al Jaberi expressed his appreciation to more than 100 countries and several international organizations, all of which expressed their strong condemnation of this cowardly act and expressed their solidarity with the UAE for this heinous target.
