Motorists and residents cautioned about flying objects and falling trees

Residents in Abu Dhabi have been cautioned about the impending heavy rainfall and strong dusty winds expected in the region over the next few days, as per the emirate’s media office.
Light rains were observed over the Dhafra region around 10.55 pm on Saturday, prompting the country’s meteorological department to issue alerts to residents. Unstable weather conditions are forecasted to persist from February 11 until Feb 13.
Authorities have urged residents to strictly follow safety precautions to minimize the impact of adverse weather conditions and to closely monitor official forecasts issued by the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).
In light of the anticipated inclement weather, Abu Dhabi Police have issued warnings to motorists, emphasizing the importance of safe driving practices. Drivers are advised to adhere to speed limits activated by the speed reduction system on roads, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and avoid sudden braking or abrupt slowing down during turns to prevent vehicles from skidding. In case of poor visibility, drivers should pull over to the side of the road.
Additionally, motorists are advised to ensure clear visibility by keeping their windows clean and maintaining functioning headlights for enhanced visibility, while also replacing old tires to reduce the risk of slipping on wet roads.
Residents are reminded to steer clear of canyons, water reservoirs, and areas near electric extension lines, open spaces, and trees during rainfall. It is essential for everyone to follow safety instructions and guidelines diligently to ensure the well-being of all individuals during adverse weather conditions.
